Residents can help prepare our community by clearing excess vegetation from their property well before the June 1 st abatement deadline. Training with the mobile water supply trailers is just one of the projects the Fire District has undertaken to be ready for the impending wildland fire season. They provide logistical support including food, rehab, cooling, communications, and ground support for the Firefighters at prescribed fire projects and emergency scenes. The volunteers are part of the Fire District’s 25-member Communications-Support Unit.

Each trailer is equipped with a portable pump that can move up to 275 gallons of water per minute through a 200’, 3” diameter supply hose. The trailers have all the equipment needed to pull water from a local lake, swimming pool or creek to supply a waiting fire engine. The training involved deploying the District’s two, mobile water supply trailers and simulated establishment of an emergency fire engine filling station. This past Saturday, six volunteers with the Moraga-Orinda Fire District spent part of their weekend morning training to support firefighters with critical firefighting water from unconventional sources.
